Here in the San Francisco Bay Area we are into our typical summer weather pattern -- it's pretty much the same low morning clouds -- fog, if you will.

It's a struggle, but in the mornings the fog recedes back to an offshore layer, and then in the afternoons it comes right back -- you can almost set your watch by it's ebb and flow.

And I hate to rub it in, but while the rest of the country is sweltering under heat and humidity, we bask in the cool liquid air.
Oh yes, it can get so thick as to make driving extremely hazardous, and those who live in coastal communities can go for weeks without ever seeing the sun -- it can get just a bit monotonous, but here in the Bay Area we do love our fog -- we call it our "natural air-conditioning".

No fog in this photo, but there definitely was low overcast clouds overhead adding a bit of snap and contrast. These artful sticks are oyster pens in Tomales Bay which have been revealed due to an exceptionally low tide.
It's a panorama -- with the aid of PhotoshopCS3 I stitched five photos together into one long image.

Mmmm....I love fog. Hate to drive in it, but I love it :) When fog covers the campus during one of my night walks, it makes me think of some 1920s horror movie :P Its thrilling!

THANKS EMMY AND THANKS MULLEH, and Mulleh, you were asking how I took that photo -- well it was pretty easy; all I had to do was to BE there, which is pretty easy because this spot is probably only six or seven miles from where I live, as the crow flies. No tripod, no fuss, no muss... I think I used one stop of under-exposure compensation so I wouldn't blow-out the whites. I shot it with the 200mm on my 70-200 "L" zoom, on my trusty Canon5D.
Gorgeous shots but I don't miss the fog all the time. I do miss the photo ops.

I love the layers in your fog image, Donald. Great work, beautifully exposed and textured. It's a perfect capture of the phenomenon that engulfs us all.
