I tend to lose part of my viewership whenever I post anything political -- oh well, I will not be silent.
My political views are probably a whole lot different than yours... I'm the guy (along with a growing number of others) who thinks that 911 was a hoax and a product of the New World Order -- and that it was an "inside job" -- meaning that the Twin Towers and Building Six were brought down by controlled demolition, and not by fire.
So, what sort of a government would kill 3,000 of it's own citizens to achieve it's goals? -- the same government who would willingly sacrifice the lives of over 4,000 of our young men and women in the name of fighting terrorism. Funny thing though -- we are the terrorists!

As for 9/11, I'm an agnostic. I don't think there was a controlled demolition of the towers or subscribe to most of the conspiracy theories that have been circulating, partly because a number of those theories are deliberate disinformation by our government. Having said that, my initial question after 9/11 was whether the U.S. government simply allowed the attack to happen or if they were in on the planning from the get-go. It doesn't really matter. We've seen how it has been used as a Gulf of Tonkin excuse for invasion ever since.
You're right, speaking up for a cause usually makes people real shy about commenting, but I agree with SFMike: it's your blog, you get to post whatever you want, simple as that. Whether we agree or disagree is completely irrelevant!
I didn't notice it was a burning flag yesterday when the photograph came up on the banner, but my eye was drawn to the colors of the fire. Really sharp!!
You brought up 9/11: I don't know what to believe about 9/11, but since I'm not an engineer, there is no way for me to know whether or not the facts about the fire and the towers coming down add up, or not. All I know is that the whole thing is very sad, indeed.
I recently saw a documentary put out by National Geographic, about 9/11, and what they said made sense to me. Watch it, and tell us what you think?
Ironically, when I went to the Windows of the World (I believe that's what the restaurant on top of one of the towers was called) about 10 years ago, they didn't let me go up with my day pack in which the camera was, because they didn't allow anyone with 'large bags' or backpacks up there. So I went up without my camera and regretted it immediately. You should have seen the view from up there at sundown... Manhattan completely laid out at your feet, lit like a Christmas tree with still a little bit of purple light in the sky ... I still remember the feeling. It was incredible. The other tower was a little taller, and we could go up on deck, which I did. Again, an incredible feeling.
When I first saw the towers fall on TV, my stomach kind of fell. I don't know how to explain, like somone puched me in the gut. 9/11 was a terrible day.

I cannot say that I agree with your political views and I doubt that I will ever be convinced that 9-11 was perpetrated by our government. But as others said, this is your blog, a place where you are free to share your opinion. Although our government is certainly capable of doing many wrongs the fact that we can state our opinions without fear of political reprisal is just one reason, that with all of her problems, the USA is still a good country.
Don, I have to agree with what Salty just wrote. Whether we agree or disagree on some things its not going to stop me from coming to your blog and enjoying your pictures. You get the juices flowing and my brain thinking. that's a good thing friend. I'm still a fan...
The flames are indeed captured beautifully.
Each to their own as far as politics, of course, but I know enough about explosives and demolitions to be able say, unequivocably, that 9/11 was NOT a controlled demolition.
As for the Palistinian issue, you might want to take a look at the Hamas Charter.
You won't loose me as a follower. My son would agree with much of what you say. I will forward the site to him. My real beaf was with the stuff about the Dalai Lama, but I love your eye and will put up with your opinions.
I just love the first ammendment. I am with you. I think the US gov't is a terrorist and the worst kind right up there with Irael. Good on you for speaking your mind. Thanks for the shout on my photos also. As you know I love your reflections.
