Oh Lord, how am I going to explain the Nuns of Perpetual Indulgence?
Lets just say that EVERYTHING you've ever heard about San Francisco is absolutely true.

So anyway, on Sunday I caught wind that the Nuns of Perpetual Indulgence was holding an Easter party in San Francisco's Dolores Park.

And what would an Easter bash be without an Easter bonnet contest...

Oh, it was a real bash with great bands and some riotous skits put on by the world-famous "Cockettes" and the amazing "Thrillpeddlers".

This fellow took top honors in the Easter bonnet contest. A cash prize was awarded but the kindly gentleman donated his prize money back to the Sisters. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence do a tremendous amount of charity work throughout San Francisco, granting thousands of dollars each year to needy Bay Area causes.

We've chatted with these guys at Burning Man in the past. Funny and a real kick to be around. The Easter Festival...I did not know. Maybe next year...if I can remember.
Well from what I could see he deserved to win with that bonnet. He put a tremendous amount of work into it. It also looks like Elton John made a brief appearance ;^).
While interning almost 4 years ago in San Diego my daughter met some of the Sisters at the Pride parade. She thought they were wonderful. I was introduced to them through her pics and likewise fell in love with them.
The top photo which shows the nun in white face with pink lipstick and has the guy in the foreground looking back is a super shot. Definitely a tip-top contender in my opinion.
Oh, the Sisters.. no one knows how to organize and run a party like the Sisters. Also, they know how to apply make up. I wish I knew how to apply make up like they do.
