bridge with a colorful name

Although the entrance to San Francisco Bay was named the "Golden Gate" 89 years before the completion of the Golden Gate Bridge in 1937, I suppose many visitors are disappointed when they see that the bridge is, indeed, painted international-orange. To find gold they've got to arrive pretty darned early (yawn) in the morning.

But who knew the bridge would turn out to have such an artistic flair...

As big as they come, yet dwarfed by nature. Oh, so early in the morning.

These are equally as nice as yesterday's "A" photo. Your next project, a coffee table book for the bridge. Yeah its been done before but not by you.

Hey, I agree with Sinbad's Dad on this one.
A coffee table book by you about the bridge would be on my table too.
Thank you a million times over for getting up in the wee small hours of the morning to capture such beauty.

Hi SINBAD'S DAD (JOHN) -- Well the next book will be done sometime next year but I want to do one about "morning". Photogs are funny about the Bridge--some won't shoot it at all, but I want to take the challenge of shooting it in all conditions and from all angles. The monkey-wrench is that the powers-that-be at the Bridge don't allow commercial photography on "their" property, and just where their property starts and ends is highly gerrymandered is not always clearly defined. They insist that photogs who sell photos of the bridge taken on "their" property obtain a $2000 per day permit. Mainly, I think, they want to discourage wedding photography from taking place on bridge property--impeding the flow of pedestrians, I suppose...
And thanks PHOTOWANNABE SUE -- sometimes it is quite a rush to get the blog "done" and out the door in time for the beauty just prior to sunrise. I've been known to have to catch up on my sleep with an afternoon nap. I'm not going to be able to continue doing this forever--but in the mean time I'm a pretty lucky guy.
