Even though the Marin County Fair is starting to wear a bit thin on my enthusiasm, they WILL continue to capitalize on my $14 admission fee. Somebody godda pay for those spectacular fireworks--they always put on quite a show.

So, one reason the entrance fee is so steep is that all rides are free. But, sorry, you couldn't PAY me to get on this hellish machine.

Some fair-goers are more "chicken" than others...

But the part I like about the Marin County Fair is the plethora of artists who arrive early on opening day to draw and paint in the open-air competition. They call it "plein-air painting".

Why is this woman smiling? Because, apparently she is doing what she enjoys. Artists are a trip. I've had jobs in art related fields (manufacturing and retail sales) my entire life, and it has been a wild ride.
Of course, my "thing" is photography, and I always look forward to the photo exhibit at the Marin County Fair. As you might be able to imagine, we have (way too) many good photographers here in Marin County--the competition is FIERCE. I had 4 prints selected to be hung this year but didn't snag any ribbons. Maybe next year...

Those are four good ones for sure (the four photos that were selected for the Marin County fair).
