When I posted this shot yesterday I wondered if I was going to be able to come up with any similar "new" photos to fill out the blog today...

...and after a brief search this morning I realized I would have to fall back on previous work. Normally, everything you see here is new, unless otherwise noted. Keeps me busy, or as my grandmother used to say; "no rest for the wicked". This was "shot" May 5, 2008 at Alpine Dam on my beloved Mount Tamalpais.

And I "shot" this April 20, 2010. Which reminds me of a little story Brigitte Carnochan related to our class of bookmaking students a while ago -- a story about Ruth Bernhard, who evidently hated hearing people using the terms "shoot", "shot", and "shooting" SO much that she demanded that anyone who used those words in her presence pay 25 cents, which she collected in a mayonnaise jar and donated to charity when the jar was full. Anyway, Ruth Bernhard died years ago but by now I suppose I now owe that mayonnaise jar some serious cash.

I too do not care for the term "shoot", "shot" or "shooting". The only alternatives I can think of is "took", "take" or "capture". Any ideas?

Hi SINBAD'S DAD -- hmmm... "make" a photo comes to mind...
Sometimes I use the term "snag" or "capture", but since we are photographers and not hunters maybe I shouldn't use those terms either...

Shoot works...
Shoot!!
I don't know what word to use.

I'm not a professional or a fancy camera user so perhaps that gives me special dispensation.
