Not much chance of drowning or getting carried out to sea, but last Thursday I wagered the possibility of wet shoes and socks to snag this photo.

And yes, I lost the bet--but only one shoe and sock was dampened. It could have been worse.

In fact, the flat rock I was sitting on came dangerously close to being swamped. I came within about two inches from taking a cold bubble-bath in the swirling surf.
