For this old fishing boat, time pretty much stopped when it became beached.
It isn't going any place soon.

If I were a better reporter I wold be able to tell you when this boat arrived, who it belonged to, it's history, and why it's sitting there behind the tiny town of Inverness on the banks of Tomales Bay.
And, oh darn, I should have used this shot for my big header photo yesterday -- I like it better than the first photo, but yesterday morning I didn't have it ready.
But the boat is appropriately named. This is the main route out to the Point Reyes peninsula. I DO have photos.

Peaceful water and enough to float-your-boat. With the warm sun and the hills beginning to green-up from the recent rain, it was a very pleasant morning in Inverness, indeed.

I had fun watching this guy paddle over to the shore, get out of his kayak, walk the short but muddy route to the general store, return with a bag of items, join his mates, and paddle off; probably to find a nice spot for brunch.

Love the almost-abstract nature of the banner image. The color..the light. Wonderful!!!
A very nice visit here with these photos. You are right about the second one being considerably more interesting than the first. On the first I had no idea what it was, on the second you can tell it is a boat, but actually I really like # 4 where you have the contrast of the old beached boat against the background of the pretty red kayaks.
The detail you captured in the pealing paint is amazing. I can almost see it flake off.
Thanks MARCIE for your comment on the SF-MOMA skylight. Actually I "completely blew" the technical side of this photo -- I used a sky-high ISO. I was going between floors at MOMA and didn't remember to slow it down to 100 while out in open light. Well, I got way too much noise in the glass skylight regions so I had to reduce the noise -- and I did it in a rather unorthodox way of using SmartBlur in PS-CS3 instead of normal noise reduction programs.
And thanks SCOTT -- Very perceptive criticism that you gave -- thanks.
And thanks SINBAD'S DAD -- Yep, there is a whole lot of paint to peel on that boat.
Donald, this series with the boats is particularly beautiful. So different from my world. I need to rent a car and get out of town!
