The road through Nicasio, California, doesn't go through town -- it goes around the baseball field. Oh, the town is there alright, there's a big restaurant (Rancho Nicasio), and a tiny post office, a Druid's Hall, real estate agent, and one fire station that works and one that doesn't. But pretty much, in Nicasio everything radiates out from the baseball field.
Standing proudly on the perimeter of the baseball field is the catholic church, above.

While walking part way up Hallek Creek Road I spotted this large double cactus flower in the height of it's bloom. It was situated on the corner of someone's property so it wasn't wild, but I thought it was rather amazing.

Now, this is a few miles west of Nicasio near the "unpopulus" of Platform Bridge, but I always look at this cabin on the hill when I drive by below.

Really like the way that vine frames the steeple and the DOF is right on. Don't expect to see too many flower shots this time of year but those cactus flowers are very pretty.
I like very much the cactus flower shot! Do you know where the name Nicasio comes from? It reminds me Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus island.
that first photo is super. the last, i like it too!
Oh, wow!!! I don't think I've ever seen a cactus flower quite like this before.
