red sunset -- it's Sky Watch Friday !

Hope everybody is having a great Sky Watch Friday !

I don't think this sunset could have looked any redder, but that's pretty much what it looked like...   --Up on Mount Tamalpais looking towards Bolinas.

But as pretty as this photo is, I think I prefer sunrises over sunsets.   With a sunrise the day is just beginning, and with a sunset it is fairly obvious when the show is over.

It´s all those glowing little details that make this so great. Like tiny golden music playing in the sunset.

Yes, sunrise and sunset can give us incredible colours. No doubt some will think it enhanced.
It's a fine shot.

Interesting how the sky looks like it is in layers.

Maybe Aileni is right that some people will think this is enhanced. But it wasn't MY first thought because I've spent a lot of time looking at skies. Nature is amazing and doesn't always need our help. ;-)

I like the horizontal color lining in this 3-elements-scape (land, water and sky and even a bit of fire of the sun)

What deep and beautiful color. I agree about sunrises and sunsets, but don't turn down a beautiful opportunity for either!

We can't see our sunset because the sky is dark grey...it is full of rain ready for the holiday weekend!

Donald, thank you so much for visiting my site and so allowing me a portal into viewing yours. I love your work! The sky photos are truly fabulous. Plus the Visitors, the Ripples (I wish I took that!) and the Exploding Wave are all first class. Your photos make me nostalgic for Northern CA (lived in Sonoma Co for many years) as I now live in Seattle. But you can take great photos anywhere, of course, and you have done so. Thanks again.

great shots! And to me sunset and the magic hours that follow makes me opt for dusk rather than dawn~~
I am not ready to stay up all night for the sun rise. LOL

Really gorgeous! Sat HI to Marin for me, I grew up there. Phoenix Lake in Ross, Tamarack in Fairfax, Mesa Road in Bolinas, Deer Island in Novato... it was a great place to grow up! Thanks for visiting my Skywatch and for your kind words. Bonnie

That sunset is a stunner, we used to learn to grade the sky just like that in art school. The tonal range in the sky is accentuated by the dark island in the foreground. Although I too prefer the sunrise, there is just something special about the light in the early morning, this sunset blows me away.

Love the fog too, especially in SF with the accompanying hooting of foghorns.
