"f"og bank -- it's ABC Wednesday !

Hope everybody is having a great ABC Wednesday !

Around the San Francisco Bay Area, "f" stands for fog...   No doubt about it...

Fog is a good thing because it brings relief from hot summer weather, but it can be a big problem for motorists and ships.

The Wikipedia says:   "Fog formation does require all of the elements that normal cloud formation requires with the most important being condensation nuclei.   When the air is saturated, additional moisture tends to condense rather than staying in the air as vapor.   Condensation nuclei must be present in the form of dust, aeresols, pollutants, etc. for the water to condense upon.   When there are exceptional amounts of condensation nuclei present, especially hydroscopic (water seeking such as salt, see below) then the water vapor may condense below 100% relative humidity".

Fog chose itself, I think Don.
You must be more familiar with fog in your area than most.

"Nice" fog - but glad you included the brabches in the foreground - by design of course.

Fog is beautiful when it lays like low cloud layers over the early morning land, but you're right, it is not so great for motorists. This is a lovely picture. We get a lot of land fog here in my area in the mornings.

Beautiful photos! But driving in fog is one of the scariest experiences I've had. I'll just enjoy it in your photos.

Great shot of the fog. I remember living in San Bruno and the fog rolling over the hills every night. I do miss the fog somewhat. Great site you have, I enjoyed your photography.

SF is famous for it's fogs,I believe, as is Sydney. I lived in Sydney years ago, & the harbour/city area was often shrouded in a pea-souper of it's fogs.

Great shot! I hear the foghorns in the fall when the ferries are heading out in the early mornings.

When we have fog at Mt. Rainier it forces everyone to look at the beauty that is close at hand. Of course, at 5000-8000 feet up the mountain the question is, "has the fog descended, or have we climbed up into the cloud?"
