wilds of civilization

No shortage of wild turkeys here in Marin County. I found these at China Camp on the shores of San Pablo Bay.

And a plethora of deer too... This year I have Mama and her two impeccably behaved youngsters hanging out in my yard and on the hillside below.

During my hike this week I watched a coyote stalk a turkey family. They knew he was coming and soon it was all feathers and squawking. If you think youngin's can't fly, when your life depends on it you fly. Two, the size in your photo, landed in the tree above me. The coyote sat down, took care of an itch and moved on.
