Point Reyes, mostly black and white

In the 1970's the Federal Government established Point Reyes National Seashore, a huge area of surf, plateaus, and salty oyster laden lagoons. Working dairy and cattle ranches remain as part of the history of the area.

Point Reyes Lighthouse, in the far distance, about half-way down that rock. The "thing" with lighthouses is that they need to be located low enough so the fog, sometimes only a short distance above the water, doesn't obscure the light.

Abbott's Lagoon... There's a long but splendid walk out to the ocean.

One of my favorite places at Point Reyes is the historic Strauss Dairy, at the north end of Point Reyes, just above McClure's Beach. In the late 1800's milk produced here at Strauss Dairy was being turned into cheese and butter, then delivered on boats to a hungry San Francisco, 40 miles to the south.

Splendid work Don.
The final one of the barn or fence with daylight showing through is classy.
Love the almost black and white photos too.
Happy New Year.
