Sometimes I stop to wonder if these plants know they are just as pretty as they actually are.

With curvy vegetation swaying in the foreground, a lake and hills beyond,
thick but clearing foggy clouds in the sky, a strong sun for backlighting --
it's only a matter of time before a show of grand proportions happens.

With all the rain we got this past Spring thistles had a pretty good run this year. Their sturdy skeletons might survive Winter rains and last until next year.
They are prolific. Their seed is lying in wait. Thistles are also known as Teasles in other parts of the world. They are an invasive species in this area but nobody seems to mind.
As proud and strong sculptures, they seem a perfect fit for the landscape.

Yep, it is SO peaceful out there at the lake -- except for the cars whizzing by, of course...
