I can find all sorts of excuses, like fog, for going up onto the nearby ridge of Mount Tamalpais. This same excuse, reworked just slightly, also works as an excuse for going up on the ridge when there is NO fog.

But of course, one of the best excuses for making the trip is the sunset.

If I need an excuse to appear productive, I always use the excuse of going up onto the ridge to count thistles.
