First light of the day. This is Raccoon Straights, the waterway between Angel Island and Tiburon, inside of San Francisco Bay.

This is typical weather for this time of year -- it's been this way for weeks with foggy mornings followed by afternoon clearing.

With a heavy hat of low clouds, this is Angel Island first thing in the morning.

From 1910 through 1940 an Immigration Station on the northeast corner of the island processed approximately one million Asian immigrants. It has been called the "Ellis Island of the West". But not all who applied were granted access to U.S. soil -- many were sent back to their homeland from this "Island of Tears".

Switching gears here -- this is late afternoon at Rodeo Beach in the Marin Headlands, not far from the Golden Gate Bridge.

Those spots in the lower left portion of the photo are surfers, undoubtedly bemoaning the fact that the waves were really piss-poor that afternoon.

Eventually a wave came along and this dude caught a ride.
