With a heavy hat of low clouds, this is Angel Island first thing in the morning.
From 1910 through 1940 an Immigration Station on the northeast corner of the island processed approximately one million Asian immigrants. It has been called the "Ellis Island of the West". But not all who applied were granted access to U.S. soil -- many were sent back to their homeland from this "Island of Tears".
