Here's a somewhat unknown spot within the Mount Tamalpais watershed -- it's not far below Alpine Dam just off the Fairfax to Bolinas Road.

Technically, I guess this would be part of Lagunitas Creek -- pretty much the start of it. Besides the imposing Alpine Dam just upstream from this spot there is another dam downstream for the creek to navigate, but eventually it makes it's way, oh so picturesquely, to Tomales Bay and the Pacific Ocean about ten miles away.

A closer look. Water can be quite graceful. Sometimes it communicates.

Alpine Dam from below, with it's imposing concrete stepped structure.
This has been a banner-year for rainfall in this area, but Lagunitas Creek will now start to slow -- by August it will be a rather lazy flow, if not just a fast trickle. Stay tuned -- I'll keep you posted!

It does indeed communicate, Donald. The photos are jawdropping, I am so relaxed right now. I can almost hear the rippling water.
Love the steps of the dam. Great captures. I can almost feel the mist rising off the splashes.
