Generally, after a basic layout, the artists will first tackle the challenge of the eyes. They say it just takes practice but I think it also takes a bit of talent to impart feeling into the eyes.

Most "squares" were sponsored by local businesses. Artists donated their time, talent, and supplies.

Years ago, and for eons, I worked at a local art supply store, but this is the first year that I didn't spot an artist who I remembered -- it's a whole new crop of talent.

don, your photo journal is amazing. I like the way you throw in tid bits of history, sprinkled with a bit of humour and the glimps you give you yourself...its better waking up to your site than to the smell of cooked bacon and fresh coffee brewing...awesome..the next time i visit the frisco area i'll now know places to go and see....

Awesome artwork. Thanks for showing it to us. I wish I could do that.
I have to scoot now but will return later to see the posts I missed. Have a great day Don.

I noticed you commented about the eyes; as a bit of an artist myself, the eyes are my favorite part to depict. Thank you so much for sharing these pictures with us; your talent makes it feel like we are right there with you!

HI GARY -- Gee whiz, thanks... I just do this for fun but I aim to please -- taking photos isn't really all that difficult...

AND HI PHOTOWANNABE SUE -- Hey, you said you were going to scoot -- be sure to wear some thick britches...

AND HI EMMY -- I hold artists in high regard -- and they are certainly interesting people to work with... Thanks for your kind words...

I didn't mean for that to be anonymous. Hit the wrong button. Again, what fun this series is.
