sunset, Mt. Tam -- it's Sky Watch Friday

Hope everyone is off to a great Sky Watch Friday !

Last Sunday I thought -- "what the heck, I wonder what the sunset might look like like up on Mt. Tamalpais this afternoon", so I thought the best thing to do was to find out.   I knew there would be a fog bank -- it had been drifting in and out of the Golden Gate all week, but the only question was -- would it be high fog, or would it be low fog.   Fortunately it turned out to be low fog...

I am glad your gamble paid off - great picture.
Love the way the light is caught by the seed heads in the top shot.

High or low, it is made beautiful by the sunset.

Thanks for making the effort to go up the mountains so you could bring this to us.

Magical colours in your sunset. I love the way you have captured the sun over the clouds.

Finally, you do "the best thing to do", and take one of the best and amazing picture of this Sky Watch! You have had a strong hunch with this.

Very magical Don. Terrific reds and subtle shads of purple.

You definitely live in Heaven! :-) This is one of the most beautiful and mysterious sunsets I've ever seen!

The photograph on top with the little grass sticking out looks like a post card!

(You got to see the GG bridge from Marin? Good for you! We haven't had a clear, unobstructed view from the other side for at least 3 weeks now! I just looked out the window and it's completely covered in fog right now, not even a piece or a suggestion of a tower sticking out, nothing at all!!)

THANKS EVERYBODY for your kind comments.
As you can see, I had a little help from Mother Nature on this one -- all I did was click the shutter, didn't even have my tripod with me... (oh, I boosted the color saturation just a wee-tad, and brought up the shadows a bit with Curves in Photoshop, but that's about all)
