sunrise, China Camp -- it's Sky Watch Friday !

Hope everyone is enjoying a pleasant Sky Watch Friday...
I am usually an early riser, and one of my favorite things to do is to go out to China Çamp on San Pablo Bay (the upper thumb of San Francisco bay) and watch the sun come up. Besides the actual sunrise, the best part of the experience is that no sane person gets up that early -- so I usually have China Camp all to myself. The population of China Camp is 1 (one), a Mr. Frank Quan, and if I pass close by his rustic cabin I often can hear him sawing-logs (snoring). At a more reasonable hour Mr. Quan will surface, and if he feels like it he will take his boat out a ways, set his nets, and see how many pounds of bay shrimp he is able to catch. Later in the day you might see him repairing his equipment or jaw-boning with visitors. Yep, that's life on San Pablo Bay. See you there...

Now folks, fasten your seat belts -- here's more Chihuly glass:

That's a heck of a sunset too ! Do you do a 180 at this time of year, standing in the same spot at sunset ?
Beautiful sunrise at China Çamp on San Pablo Bay! Seems that this is a lonely place - or only in the early morning? I love that orange colour very much. Sunrise and water is especially beautiful!
I live in the middle of city with about 2 million people. Sometimes I miss the wide outlook but I also know some places to go...
Kind regards, Maria
Yes Chihuly’s glassworks are very beautiful but your golden sunset (or is it again sunrise?) photo above is fabulous!
As for the “Sunrise at China Camp”; I like very much the contrast between thick grey clouds (death, sadness, pessimism) and orange sun (life, joy, optimism).
I wish you a marvellous week-end! Ciao!
Your photos are absolutely gorgeous! That water is just PERFECT !
HAVE A WONDERFUL FRIDAY!
What a beautiful spot, and your description makes me feel as though I were right there... that is one gorgeous photo!
Thank you for your kind comment on my first Skywatch. Happy Friday!
Oh, btw, LOVE that glass! :)
Unfortunately Tom is on bed rest today and for the first time you are stuck with me. I have my orders to visit as many as I can, and make sure the links are working and everyone is being good. I am sure you are all being good.
Tom and I thank you for Sky-Watching this week. I am sure that as soon as Tom's heart beat settles down he will be back here and visiting.
JANE
Thanks Mr Quant on behalf on me. To share his sunrise with us , and you to be the go-between. I'm sure you've been faithful to the original, no one else than Nature can create a such wonder.
You should go many times in that magical place if you know the name of that man.
It's just like this glass serie! How it should be funny to play with the colors, and the light of the glass as a photographer. I'm sure that the artisans that created such wonderful items, don't have a control on the colors of the object. They take it as it comes, they just interfer about the form. It reminds me Murano, they get great creators here too.
Incredible!
Fun description and a beauty of a sunrise! The Glass images are breathtaking! Well done!
Cheers, Klaus
Interesting blog! Nice photos, full of colors!

A beautiful start to the day. I love the bands of cloud across the sun.

WOW! Love those sky shots, specially the one with the sun peaking through the clouds.
Donald: Very nicely done for SWF. I love your opening shot also.
Donald,
A beautiful sky watch and your header photo is awesome!
The glass photos are stunning!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Great sunset/sunrise. Ok confession time since you asked. I was born in S Cal. then lived in outside Seattle for years. I moved to Fiji almost 10 years ago and have been amassing a huge collection of digital images. I just recently got an internet connection. It is dial up and very slow. I will link to you also as I like your blog. I visited the west coast 1 1/2 years ago and SF as well as Alcatraz was great. I would love to go back 100 times as the photo ops are unlimited. Thanks for the visit and comments If you like fishing then have a look at my fish blog. http://xstreemfishing.blogspot.com Cheers

I´ve seen Chihuly-glass in real life and it looks really astonishing. Great post, thanks!
Hallo from north Norway. Last week I saw all Sky Watch Friday photos and they were all great, and I hope to see them all this week too. I love to travel around the world this way.

Nice pictures. Might have to try to get out to China Camp if I ever get back to the US
I'm very slow this week in getting my pictures up and visiting other people's sites. My contribution to SWF is Watching the Skies over Pakse.
