China Camp + Frank Quan

The construction of the transcontinental railroad brought thousands of Chinese to California so they could be exploited for their hard labor, but when the railroad project was finished, many of the Chinese became quite successful as independent contractors -- either farming or fishing, or as merchants...   Frank Quan is descended from a long line of bay-shrimp fishermen, who have been netting and drying their catch for over a hundred years at China Camp, now with a population of 1, near San Rafael, on the banks of San Pablo Bay -- the upper portion of San Francisco Bay...

Interesting history lesson. I never made it there. Sometime when we are just wandering perhaps the car will go that way...
