fog is familiar

Although some of my relatives will tell you that I NEVER grew up, I grew up in on the Monterey Peninsula--Pacific Grove to be exact--which has GOT to be one of the foggiest areas on the West Coast.

Generally, when it's hot and dry in California's Central Valley it is foggy and cold on the Pacific Coast. If you lived here you would probably learn to be appreciative of fog--we call it our "natural" air-conditioning.

And yes, I suppose day after day and week after week of foggy mornings it CAN start to become just a bit depressing. But usually the fog rolls back out to the ocean each day long enough so we can at least enjoy a FEW hours of sun in the afternoon, or even by mid-morning if we are lucky.
Aside from fog's superior performance as air-conditioning, it also gives photographers a chance to explore new compositions. I found these near the south end of the Golden Gate Bridge--one of the really SUPER foggy spots.

The fog makes beautiful, exotic pictures but boy, I sure don't miss it. Love my sunny mornings.
That's why I so enjoy your photos. I don't actually have to be there.
Hi PHOTOWANNABE SUE -- Oh, I'm not sure what I would do with a sunny morning... Glad to be of service, anyway..
