This is the road that takes me there, and on a weekday in the midst of a drippy and foggy rain, it just might be me, alone up there. The only person up on our beloved Mount Tamalpais.

A mossier tree might be hard to find -- if there ever is a mossy tree contest I will keep this fine old specimen in mind.

Mount Tamalpais was heavily logged for it's valuable redwood in the late 1800's and early 1900's. This stump has most likely been doing nothing but getting mossy (((and a bit burned))) for the past 120 years or so.

Gorgeous! Kind of makes one feel humble against that patient, slow march of growth in the forest, doesn't it?
Exactly, Jennifer...
That's an amazing mossy stump. I can hear the quiet and feel that special dampishness. Beautiful pictures.
I love the double picture of the road. My I borrow it for my blog series of road pictures?
wow, these pictures are like taken right from a fairy tale! amazing shots!
Thanks everybody, and yes Marc (((or whatever your real name is))) you may use any of my photos -- it would be an honor.
