Oh, this example is just for fun -- I was just fooling around with one of the filters in PhotoshopCS3. I thought the photo by itself was just a bit boring so I was trying to spice it up a bit.

This is the "famous" Cypress tree tunnel at the historic ship-to-shore KPH radio receiving station at Point Reyes National Seashore, 30 miles or so (as the crow flies) north of San Francisco. These trees were probably planted in the 1920's when KPH was established.

Recently, Rhett Redelings published a great photo of these trees on his blog (his image recently won the Polaroid.net shot of the day), which served as my inspiration to get off my butt and to get out there to try my hand at capturing the trees.
My good buddy in Ohio, Jan Bell of BellImages always likes to shoot the "tree tunnel" when he visits -- folks seem to find these trees fascinating, and I do too, although I've seen them and tried photographing them so many times that they're pretty much "old hat" to me. With all the beauty that abounds in Marin County I am a bit spoiled...
My goal is to shoot these trees in a very heavy fog -- with wisps of fog moving through the branches for a ghostly effect. It was rather foggy the day I made these shots but the fog wasn't low enough for any whispy effects. Finding fog at Point Reyes is usually no problem -- it must be one of the more foggy places on the west coast.

Such wonderful images of trees and branches and textures intertwining. Especially love the first one - and the layers of fog you captured!
