a friendly horse at McIsaac Ranch

I don't seem to take all that many horse photographs, although in west Marin the horses just might outnumber people. This friendly beast was rolling around in dirt when I arrived at the fence line, but came over to slobber all over my gear, give a few nose-bumps, and shoot-the-breeze for a while.

The same horse from May 2013 when I was able to snag the flock of birds swooping up at just the right moment. The image won a special award at the Marin County Fair in 2013. Thank you very much.

I really like the horse photo and I am not a horse person either.

I really like the horse photo and I _am_ a horse person. I like that you didn't try to include his whole face, but that you caught his friendly curiosity. And the landscape with horse and birds is richly deserving of the reward it earned - an iconic California scene.

Thanks JOHN (SINBAD'S DAD)…
and Thanks also ZOOMIE -- yep, there are horse people and there are non-horse people. I don't know much about horses but in the mid-1970's I worked for a few months on a horse ranch, Circle V Stables, on the west side of Fairfax. Scooped up a lot of poop and dispensed good measures of alfalfa, and even went on a couple rides to the top of Loma Alta.

Makes me nostalgic for the days when I rode horses at my uncle's farm. Well, maybe "ride" is stretching it a bit but I was in the saddle anyway. Very very nice photo!
