Oh, you've probably heard of extreme-sports; well today I thought I would show you some extreme-tranquility.   Stuff that is quiet and doesn't move very fast.   CLICK for a selection of China Camp photos on my "big" site.

So early that Frank Quan, China Camp's sole remaining resident is still asleep.   If I get too close to his cabin I can sometimes hear him snoring.   It's 7AM and opening time (this is actually a California State Park) isn't for another hour.   There isn't another soul around.   I'm not even supposed to BE here.   Snap, snap...

This old shrimping boat isn't going anyplace soon.   It's just going to sit here quietly today, just like it's been doing for the past thirty years or so.

China Camp was established following the Gold Rush days -- netting Bay Shrimp was one of the few businesses allowed Chinese immigrants.

By the late 1800's hundreds made China Camp their home, sun-drying their catch on hillsides, and later on racks in a more modern steam-heated kiln.

Very interesting. I've been to China Town in SF a few times, but never heard of China Camp. You are right about it being nice quiet peaceful shots there today.

I love these early morning pictures Don. to be there before even Frank is up is rather mystical.
The composition of the last shot is my favorite I love all the angles and triangles of color between the boat, shadow, water, beach, and the design of the boat. Great job as usual.
I like the verification word today... uprimpl

Wonderful Donald. LOVE the boat hull. And sun on water is something I - in all my amateurness - has never managed to capture.
