"twisted" San Francisco...

The twisted (Skygate) sculpture, just east of Pier39, seems to fit well with this heavily pruned Sycamore.  San Francisco uses the Sycamores widely along sidewalks and in parks.   The Sycamores don't seem to mind their annual super-short trims by City arborists.

This is always a fun sculpture to shoot.   "Skygate" sculpture by Roger Barr, 1984-85, stainless steel.   It's big.   It's twisted.   CLICK for an April '09 shot of the sculpture including Coit Tower.

Many "locals" never venture in the Pier39 area, but I've found by visiting before 8AM I am ensured of a unencumbered walk-around.   All sorts of colorful things to "spook-out".

And tourist or not, who doesn't need a good early morning chuckle.

ONLY PROBLEM is that Rodney Lough's photo gallery -- he had a nice gallery at the very rear of Pier39 on the left -- has gone out of business.   However he still has his other gallery across the bay in the high-rent district of Sausalito.   Rodney Lough does some really magical work of nature -- maybe just a tad over-saturated, but powerful imagery none-the-less.
