Plug1 was asking about taking pictures inside the deYoung and Legion of Honor, and yes, photography is permitted (no flash) at both museums, except in special or travelling exhibit areas... Most of the exhibits at the deYoung are dimly lit, but the Legion of Honor is brighter and even has several skylights... An $11.00 ticket will get you into both museums on the same day...
