Ridgecrest Boulevard, Mount Tamalpais

I showed a horizontal view yesterday as the banner, but here it is as a vertical. I thought this would be even more dramatic, but I now I'm leaning towards the horizontal view as the better composition.
This (above) is a low spot on the ridge where fog collects. Mixed with sunlight it can be really impressive. I think it's bloody beautiful.

Ridgecrest Boulevard follows the crest of the northern flank of our beloved Mount Tamalpais. Each year a few car commercials are filmed on this road. The scenery and feeling of open-space really can't be beat. Again, I think the area is absolutely beautiful.

Clouds make large statements of light and shadow on broad hillsides.
Right now the hills couldn't be greener with all this rain we've been having, but these same hills will soon turn golden. No foolin'. I'll keep you posted.

Oh Wow! I love them all!
Have you seriously taken all these photos? Wow you are amazing!
HI MULLEH, yes, seriously I have taken all these photos and a whole lot more -- I have photos coming out my ears... But then there's always the threat of running out of good ones for this blog, so that keeps me hopping -- trying to sleuth new ones out. I get to play games with the weather -- it all is really a lot of fun, really.
yeah! I can imagine its lots of waiting but real good fun!
I like taking pictures as well! But I love your skills!
Incredible scenery and I too love your photo skills.
Yep, I think I need to break free of Sonoma County and drive down the road apiece to explore the Mount Tam area. It's been far too long since I've last been there. Your photos are drawing me in.
My, oh my, oh my. You have topped yourself on this post. "Bloody Beautiful" !!!
Do you travel a lot or do you just live in such an amazing place you can capture such beauty on a daily basis?
Beautiful road photos of one of my favorite areas!
I will be contrary and say I prefer the vertical composition of the road.
HI EVERYBODY -- and thanks!
And I got a kick out of CrazyGirl's question;
"Do you travel a lot or do you just live in such an amazing place you can capture such beauty on a daily basis?"
Well, yes, this area, just north of San Francisco really IS incredibly beautiful, and lots of visitors to San Francisco end up going to nice places like Muir Woods, but they never really see what Marin County has to offer. A coastline just about as dramatic as Big Sur. Fields and pastures with incredible tranquility. Green hills that turn golden later in the year. Berry bushes that turn into pies... etc...
But the secret is that I have a lot of time on my hands to go exploring in this beautiful area. Oh, I've worked, and I've done a lot of it -- but now I play with my camera, and it is all great fun. No big deal -- taking photos is a snap.
I'm with you Adam Paul; I prefer the vertical.
BTW ... I love your work. I had hoped that we could have met when I was in the bay area this spring.

I'm voting for the horizontal which took my breath away. Going to "Guys and Dolls" at the amphitheatre on top of Mt. Tam on Sunday, will probably be seeing the place through your eyes.
