Spring, busting out

No sleeping-in for West Coast bees -- the sun is out and it looks like an early Spring.

And I'm pretty sure this bee knows EXACTLY what type of tree this.   Lord knows I'm no expert on identifying anything -- but if it's flowering at this time of year, I just call whatever it is a Plum tree.   Works for me...

But I do know this is a Douglas Iris -- definitely one of the prettier and more voluptuous wildflowers in this area.
CLICK for an example (((a photo from last year))) which is much more blue.   The Douglas Iris varies between these two colors.

And another pretty tree I don't know the name of -- and I doubt if calling it a "non-flowering Red Plum tree" is going to work.   You're on your own...

The names you chose work for me too. "non-flowering Red Plum " is perfect.
Most of the trees around here are blooming like crazy. Its so pretty but my nose doesn't agree.

I'm a couple days late with my post, but Don, I already emailed you directly. I love the tree blossoms with the bronze-colored foliage. They have an asian feel. And the colors just work!

They embody the essence of SPRING :)
