I first spotted this highly artistic plant a few years ago growing along the banks of the Lagunitas Creek -- but I knew it looked familiar -- and after a bit of head-scratching I realized that this is the same plant my parents had growing wild in their garden -- it's name is Montbretia and is also called Crocosmia.
Seen in this photo, it is growing along Conzleman Road in the Marin Headlands, within spitting-distance of the Golden Gate Bridge. The flowers will continue to develop over the next few months.

Beautiful shot! I have enjoyed your images of the west coast for sometime, but have not visited your blog for a couple of months. I enjoyed your interview with Caliber. It was also nice to see some of your "people" images.
