Oh gosh, I'm sorry, this scene is one I probably should have passed by. I thought the design was kind of interesting, but the more I look at it the less it "speaks to me". It's just that I was having such a hard time shooting on Haight Street -- I just wasn't in my groove... I settled for something that I thought would qualify as "artistic". With a bit more searching I think I could have found a subject with a bit more "feeling".

And I'm not exactly sure how much "feeling" this photo has, but yes, chekered legs and iridescent olive-green fingernails really "send me"...

Those (((god-damned))) taggers had really made a mess of this Zion Train mural -- this is the replacement version.

The many fabulous Victorian homes in the Haight were built by the hard-working Italians who for a century called the Haight their home, and today many of these fine old structures have been turned into amazingly detailed "painted ladies".

Gorgeous "painted ladies" Don. I love the vivid color and the whole composition.
The first shot is rather Mondrian. I kind of like all the squares.

I like the checkered legs. Didn't notice the olive nails until you mentioned it. The wispy, flowering branches in front of the Painted Ladies is fantastic.
