good morning Iris

On Thursday I spotted a treasure-trove of Douglas Irises on the Fairfax-to-Bolinas Road (about a mile east of Highway 1), but the pesky wind was blowing too swiftly to even consider stopping for a shot.   I promised myself I would return -- so I did, early on Friday morning, and the wind was dead-calm.   I guess sometimes a photographer has to just go the extra mile.   Tough job, but someone has to do it.   My pleasure!

I forgot to mention your comments on the other picture. I didn't know the hospital was gone. It was such a stately old building.
Interesting that your Dad worked in the shipyards too. I don't know exactly where Dad worked but he was a welder for the ships. I was born in 43. So you are a young whippersnapper to me...LOL.
Thanks for my walk down memory lane too. Its fun to talk to someone who knows what I'm talking about.

Hi Anna (Boubou's)

Thanks Anna. It's been so windy recently that it's been hard to get much flower photography done... But I know a great spot nearby for wildflowers -- Chimney Rock at Point Reyes... It's usually cold, windy, and harsh out there, but the wildflowers seem to love it. Some folks claim it has the best showing of wildflowers on the west coast. They'll be at their prime soon, so I hope I can find a windless morning and some sort of super-dooper lens to shoot them with.

And by the way, I love the cat closeup you have on your blog today... I've got one of those rascals too I write all sorts of silly and sophomoric things about her on her own daily blog.

And yeah, I know what you mean by needing an editor on blogspot -- what I really need is a spell-checker. Grammar is also a big problem for me, but at my advanced age of 60, you just can't teach an old dog new tricks...

Talk about time well spent. I have been on your site about an hour this morning. Looking at photos and enjoying the writing.

I especially liked the Douglas Iris piece. I have spent 15 minutes Googling iris data. I wish I had paid more attention on our last trip to Coastal California. Wild Iris identification is a lot more complicated than I had thought.

Anyway thanks for the great photo and you are right "It's a tough job, but I'll do the best I can". There is always more to learn. It drives me crazy when someone says "I'm bored" or "There's nothing to do".
