Dogs were digging the day... This is out at Rodeo Beach, at Fort Cronkhite in the Marin Headlands. The waves were exceptionally high due to a storm in Alaska. I have never seen more people at Rodeo Beach -- there was barely a space to park. People were actually applauding big waves for their spectacular form. Almost like a rock concert or Olympic event.

This lady has a nice selection of brushes...
Her easel is a French easel, and I used to sell those at the art supply store where I worked from 1985 to 2001. French easels fold up rather cleverly and hold all your stuff. Painters have a lot of stuff.

ROBERT CAMERON HAS DIED

Well folks, it's a sad day because 98 year old Robet Cameron has died after a lifetime of doing spectacular arial photography all over this country.
His career started to take off in the early sixties, and he has published numerous books and of course you've seen his photos in advertising, newspapers, and magazines.

All sorts of activity at the beach. The dogs look as if they're having a great time. The waves on the rocks in my favorite.

98 years old. WOW. It makes me sit back and pause for a moment. Maybe I do have a lot of life ahead of me, but I doubt that I'll make it to 98.
I love Robert's photo of the Transamerica building .... one of my favorite structues in the U.S. Aerial photography has always interested me. I own two coffee table photo books by a photographer named Bernhard Edmaier. His work all has an abstracted quality. Much of the time you don't know what you are looking at, or how far "up" he was when he shot the photo.

I love the splashes. And if I painted, I would want one of those easels. It almost makes me want to take up painting.
