Oh, I suppose there are scientific explanations, but I think it's perhaps all some sort of wild beauty contest...

The chorus...   And sometimes there is strength in numbers...

SPECIAL EDITION -- CAN YOU HELP ME CHOOSE 5 PHOTOS?
I'm going to be entering an art festival later in the year and need to pick five photos for submission.

If you have time and the patience to go through these 99 and pick out five that you thought you liked best, your input would be greatly appreciated.   (Filenames of images starts with "r" in lower left)

Wonderful flower photos, that iris is just perfection! Good luck with your show. I have to play catch up on a project this weekend, but if I get any free moments, I would love to view all you photos. I always enjoy your compositions and selective eye!

You have many excellent photographs in that set of 99 - it was hard to choose only 5, but I picked:

rah5828 (ferns) - love the colors & lines

rag8684 (abstract) - what is this? Again, great forms

rag4027 (foggy trees) - amazing lighting!

rag1368 (tunnel) - love how the conduit leads the eye, and the colorful reflections add extra interest without distracting

rad6121 (foggy lake) - great light again - is this one of the MMWD lakes?

Where's the chinese lady in china town? that was my all time favorite. my pick is the homeless guy with the sign. bonnye in west sac

HI ADAM --
Thanks for those selections -- you gave me a couple ideas...

The abstract is an oak log out at China Camp...

Glad you like the tunnel shot -- I had sort of forgotten about that one...

And the lake shot is Alpine, from the dam, believe it or not... Backs up my theory that "you've just got to be there" to get the shot...

AND HELLO TO DEBORAH -- Always a treat when you stop by...

AND HELLO TO BONNYE IN WEST SAC -- Got to say that I agree with your selection of the sign-guy...   I really enjoyed the little conversation I had with him...   You see him all over the place -- he gets around...

This is going to be a very difficult task! When is the deadline for photo submission? If you can wait a couple of days, I will most definitely look at your slide show.

HI TOMATE FARCIE --
Yep, I've got a week so there's no rush... It would be fun to learn what you chose -- no fooling... And no big deal if you can't do it... I wouldn't want to start giving out assignments around here...

Holy cow! Choose 5 out of 99? I'll go look. I'll be partial to the flowers, though. And I know I'll pick that China Camp tree shadow. And right this second, I'm thinking about the one in your header. Is it there? I need to go look.

The flowers in this post are STUNNING!

unfortunately my computer started to crawl to a stop going through all the pics but i do like rah2846 the little humming bird and rah1093 The footpaths reflected in the glass building

OK. I have a problem, I think I have too many pictures! Also, I have a really small monitor here and not a very good one, so I can't see the colors of the pix real well, but with this limitations, here goes:

RAH6049 fruits
RAH4937 flowers
*RAH4999 tree reflection on road (only if it's really sharp, I can't tell if the picture is completely focused on this monitor)
RAH1093 FD's glass stairs/pattern
*RAH4027 light playing with tree
RAH3534 GG Bridge + fog
*RAH1368 TUNNEL
RAH 3511 GG Bridge w/electric poles
RAH0970 Bird looking at waves
RAH5031 f you hippie
RAD7796 oat+ fog + Mt. Tam or
RAD9321 oat + sunset

I like all these (and more) but I put a star next to those I would probably select, and I bolded those I'm sure I would select.

I don't know if everybody will like the picture of the hippie, but personally I think it's a classic. You *HAVE* to submit the tunnel I think.

Also, you could have included others from the Marin County Civic Center series ony our big site.

good luck with your contest!

PS. The Blue Angels shot is great, but there are many around already.

THANKS CHRIS J -- Appreciated your picks.

HI JOHN LONG -- Thanks for pointing out that having so many photos on that Flash gallery viewer (SimpleViewer) causes it to slow to a crawl. I don't use Flash on my "big" site, which I think is an advantage...
Thanks for the suggestions.

AND THANKS TO LOUISE AND PHOTOWANNABE too...

AND TOMATE FARCIE -- Yep, I see we have another vote for the F.Y. Guy on Haight Street... (By the way, Brad Evans has a couple good shots of him)
Interesting suggestions -- appreciate you taking the time.

THANKS TO EVERYONE AGAIN --
I got my entry into the Mill Valley Art Festival last night. We'll see if I get by the judges...

The show isn't until September -- I'll keep you informed -- you betcha...

Everybody's input was a definite help.

Best regards, Don and Kitty
