The owners of this San Francisco landmark, Tommy's Joynt, want you to believe it has been there since the beginning-of-time, but actually it was opened in 1947, the year of my birth -- now, that isn't so old, is it?

The graphics on the side of the building are spectacular and bold, but I've always thought it as a tourist-trap.   I've only been inside once several years ago, and that was only because a friend was raving about their pastrami sandwiches, but I understand it is popular among many the "locals" as well.

Good eye for an interesting Photograph.

Which is better, the sandwiches or the cocktails? ;o)

Wow, you sure were fast with your comment, Troy...

I need to go add some text to the post -- I suppose this one needs some explanation...

My Dad used to eat at Tommy's Joint when he worked in San Francisco. Not all the time but it was an interesting change from the usual fare. Great shots and thanks for the memories.

PS: in the second photo, 100% what?

100% Buffalo Stew, but I think they might be stretching the truth a little bit here.   Sorry that I cut off the info.

You can see the "Kitty connection" to this image over at yesterday's edition of my KittyBLOG.

In my opinion, Tommy's is well worth a visit even for a non-drinker. I found myself here on Thanksgiving evening a few years back, and it was fun to be in the company a very interesting and extremely diverse cross-section of San Francisco, with a surprisingly welcoming vibe. In any event, the mashed potatoes are excellent, though the menu is generally pretty meat-oriented.

Oh, nooooooooo!!! There was a lot of text! I guess I'll just have to Google it, then!

I've done that, though. Don't you hate it when it happens?
