newly mowed fields

Marin County is fairly large, but most residents stay cloistered in the populated areas and seldom venture into the wide-open spaces...   I have a favorite loop through the area...   This photo was taken near the Cheese Factory on the Petaluma-to-Point Reyes Road where the oat harvest is in full swing...

Thanks for the little story. I love the colors in this photograph. I have always been partial to the neutral shades of colors, but I don't seem to shoot them very much.

Seems to me as soon as you drive a few miles past Fairfax you enter another time dimension and the landscape looks like what I imagine Marin must have been like 30 or 40 years ago (not so dense, more rural, different type of residents).

I remember taking the road you are talking about, a few times, to get from Petaluma to Marin and back, when 101 was really, really bad. That was a long time ago, though.
