Well gosh, I'm not too happy with this shot as I don't have quite enough depth-of-field -- oh, I suppose I have other shots of this type that are a bit better -- but I can tell you that I definitely had a great time shooting it.

Which reminds me -- that word "shoot", or "shot", or "shooting" -- well, believe it or not some people don't like those terms one bit. You'll be hearing ALL about this in two or three weeks but I've been taking a night-class, and our instructor (who shall go nameless at this point) related a story about the famous San Francisco based photographer Ruth Bernhard. Seems like she really hated those terms because she had a mayonnaise jar designated to collect 25 cents from anyone who ever uttered any derivation of the verb "to shoot". I'm told she donated the proceeds to charity. But I'll tell you -- at 25 cents a pop, and at the frequency that I use the word "shoot", I'd be broke in short order.

Okay, back to the creek... Oh lord -- am I seeing clear skies this morning?

So, let me tell you the parameters that allow me to "shoot" these images --
1) The sun must be out and the sky should be mostly blue.
2) The water must remain shaded but surrounding vegetation must be partially illuminated.
3) There is a particular time of day that is generally best for each location, but in general you want to "shoot" ripples and reflections in the morning -- for me at my favorite spot on the Lagunitas Creek the time-window is between 8:30 and 9:30AM.

So there you go -- everything you need to know about shooting ripples and reflections. Let me know how yours turn out. Best of luck. Have a great time. Don't forget to write. Don't fall in.

Hey DON...
That'll be 50 cents, please. (JK)
But SERIOUSLY, Don, has anyone ever told you you have a really GREAT name? Well you do! Just for that I'm taking 50 cents off your bill.
