Yes folks, the letter this week is U -- not an easy assignment...

But UnUsUal is definitely the word for the exterior of San Francisco's DeYoung Museum in Golden Gate Park.   The builders went to a lot of trouble to emboss and perforate the exterior of the UnUsUal building -- and of course a lot of people thought the design was hideous at first (and some still do)...   Anyway, if you can get past the exterior, a wealth of treasures is on display inside, including a fantastic collection of African art.   See you there...

That is good 'art' shot - the design of your picture suits the subject.

I love the above pic of the waves.

I have just read your biog and have my son looking through an Ansel Adams book. All credit for introducing yourself.
I did a year in Art School photography when I was forty. It was a waste of time and I got very depressed. I had paid the fees when they told me I didn't need to be there because of the standard of my work. Ah, well - these things happen.

Great post on the unusual. It piqued my interest in the DeYoung so I did a little searching...looks like a great, eclectic place to visit.

UnUsUal is the perfect word for this Don. I have yet to make it inside. I do think the design takes some getting used to. Nice textures and angles.

Thanks for your visit.
I've just flight over my lakes it was wonderful and less frightening than I had thought.
I'll fly again over thr third lake and Troyes as soon as I can.

Whatever your feelings about the design of the building, it's absolutely made for photographs of angles and patterns. I really like both of these, but I think the first has my vote - more variety of shape.

Thanks for visiting mine - I'm really glad to have "met" you.

Great idea for 'U', and that sounds like a fantastic museum to visit.
I am really struggling to come up with something for 'V'...it'll happen. Thanks for visiting.

A bit unusual, indeed. But as the saying goes, beauty is only skin deep - it is what's on the inside that counts. :)
