bridge girders

The Golden Gate Bridge is not as solid as it looks.
Besides loud and worrysome creaks and rattles, the bridge really gets rocking-and-rolling, with a whole lot of shaking-going-on.

Love this picture from under the bridge. Is it taken from Fort Point?
I don't think people realize how much the bridge sways and groans everyday.
Terrific shot Don.

Hi Photowannabe Sue,

Nope, not from Ft. Point, but on the north side of the bridge. There is a little pedestrian and bicycle passageway that crosses under the bridge roadway. If you use a large f-stop you can shoot right through the security fencing.

You're quite right about that, that brige is rocking! Great, creative post, including this very unusual shot of the GGB.

I didn't know you could walk across the bridge. I "googled" it up and sure enough I found lots of information on walking across the bridge. The next time I am there I will walk a little bit of it for the feel.
